Insensation, the frameless and armored door company known for its minimalist XXL doors, was founded by Richard Gelles, who envisioned the brand and leads its growth. In 30 years, we expanded from our original location in Basel, Switzerland to serve clients in 14 countries in Europe and across the USA with 7 unique showrooms for contractors and architects.

For 30 years, we have developed minimalist products and introduced world-class architects to a wide range of frameless technologies which have subtly altered the course of interior design in everything from tiny woodland homes to massive luxury towers.

For 30 years, we have enjoyed every minute working with exceptional architects, contractors, designers and our own group of engineers and product gurus who have pushed the boundaries of wood, metal and mechanics in door design.

Throughout 2026, we will be releasing new products, new locations and announcing major projects that we have been preparing.

Many companies in the USA market their products as ‘European’ or even ‘Italian’ design. This is a pure marketing gimmick and has nothing to do with the design, quality or engineering of a product. An excellent product will have either a CE or an UL rating. Both mean the product meets safety and quality standards. Insensation products are certified CE, Conformity European.

A product which has a CE Marking means is was manufactured in Europe using European quality standards:

1. The product complies with all relevant product directives and regulations in the European Union
2. The product conforms to all of the applicable health, safety, and environmental laws
3. The product is legally compliant enough to sell everywhere in the European Union

Countries That Require CE Marking

CE Marking is required for relevant products sold in all member countries of the European Union (EU) as well as the non-EU EEA countries. Though not part of the EU or EEA, Switzerland and Turkey have adopted certain regulations and directives. A product claiming to have some European or country specific design, is only relevant if it has a certified CE label.

Current and former Soviet countries like Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan are not part of the European Union and do not participate in their CE quality standards.

The Leader in Universal XXL 2″ Frameless Doors just got even better.

Insensation, the only company manufacturing custom-made 2” thick XXL universal frameless doors, that are pre-assembled at delivery, is pleased to announce significant upgrades to our Frameless Pocket doors. This is the 3rd generation of our precision-engineered frameless pocket door system.

The FP2 FRAMELESS POCKET is now available with a 2” thick XXL door leaf. All other companies use inferior door thicknesses of 1 3/8″, 1 1/2″ or 1 3/4″. No luxury home should have such thin, cheap doors leafs for their pocket doors. Our 2” thick leafs with engineered German acoustic cores, and our unique design to block noise in both the pocket and door leaf area, sets Insensation worlds apart from every other frameless door product. We have also upgraded our Frameless Bypass doors to 2″.

Insensation is now delivering our exclusive doors in 7-10 days after production to any building site in any US state.

Insensation is pleased to announce phenomenal pricing on all our oak frameless doors. While other companies charge hundreds of dollars for oak finishes, Insensation’s 20 real oak finishes are available for $135 more per door over our lacquered white doors. In white or wood finishes, Insensation’s pre-assembled doors save time and money in installation costs. Other companies charge $600 plus for real wood veneers and their selection is not half as large as ours.

When manufacturing wood veneer doors, there are several aspects which differentiate Insensation doors from others on the market.

1. Insensation only uses real wood veneers sourced from Italy. Insensation does not manufacture laminate doors. Laminate is plastic, and belongs on cheap furniture, not high-end doors. There is a huge quality difference between real wood and plastic.

2. Most companies manufacturing wood doors create their edges out of edge bands. Edge bands are laminated onto the edge of the door using heat or adhesive tape to apply. Edge banding is an inexpensive way to create door edges. They often de-laminate, or peel off after some time.

3. Insensation wood doors have solid wood edges, made of the same wood as the door surface. These are durable and of significantly higher quality than edge bands. Solid wood adds a premium natural wood finish to doors, improving their look and making it an excellent choice for luxurious interiors.

4. Insensation does not use pine wood like the cheap doors sold at Home Depot and Wayfair. Insensation uses birch or oak for framing – high quality doors require high-quality wood.

Insensation Frameless Doors lead the market due to our superior thickness, universal-engineered door frame, wide spectrum of hardware and our unique INtact Installation which saves significant time and money on building sites.   10 years ago we introduced the American market to our innovative high-performance door cores.  Now we further innovate the door outer layers with a state-of-the-art material to serve the exclusive needs of our clients.

Our standard door structure is comprised of 2 outer layers of 7 mm MDF and a high-tech core.   This construction has proven to be superior for longevity, ease of installation and provide unique integration capabilities with emerging components. Other manufacturers typically have 2 or 3 mm outer layers, making for a very weak door construction.  In addition to our already excellent engineering, we are pleased to announce the integration of Swiss CDF (Compact Density Fibreboard) in all our unique frameless doors.

CDF refers to the compactly compressed fibreboard (> 1,000 kg/m3) that gives the product such enormous stability. Thanks to its multi-ply construction, SWISSCDF is predestined for complex and filigree milled structures. SWISSCDF complies with the fire classification according to EN 13501-1 and therefore is also suitable for use in “flame-retardant” areas.

Swiss CDF is the future of modern door construction and is now available as an option on all Insensation doors.
