EXPERTS IN WOOD FINISHES

With a 30 year history of engineering high-end wood frameless doors, Insensation manufactures custom-made wall panels for those projects designed with a lot of wooden texture. Our wood veneers are sourced from Italy and are very competitively priced.

The panels are available in two thicknesses, 1/4″ and 3/4″, enabling a wide variety of design applications, with matching frameless doors and entrance doors of all types. A large range of real oak veneers is available.

Insensation does not use laminates (also called HPL), which are plastic, and generally used in low-quality projects and furniture.  Laminate doors can be found in abundance at Do-It-Yourself centers.

 

 

Insensation also has American Walnut veneers and works with the veneers from ALPI Brookside for large projects, including the veneers from Piero Lissoni.

The client visited our San Francisco showroom and immediately witnessed the outstanding quality and features of Insensation Frameless Doors.  The order was delivered 8 weeks later, and the contractor, who had never installed frameless doors before, excelled in using our pre-assembled doors to achieve amazing results.

SWISS CDF | COMPACT STRENGTH

Insensation Frameless Doors lead the market due to our superior thickness, universal-engineered door frame, wide spectrum of hardware and our unique INtact Engineering which saves significant time and money on building sites.   10 years ago we introduced the American market to our innovative high-performance door cores.  Now we further innovate the door outer layers with a state-of-the-art material to serve the exclusive needs of our clients.

Our standard door structure is comprised of 2 outer layers of 7 mm MDF and a high-tech core.   This construction has proven to be superior for longevity, ease of installation and provide unique integration capabilities with emerging components. Other manufacturers typically have 2 or 3 mm outer layers, making for a very weak door construction.  In addition to our already excellent engineering, we are pleased to announce the integration of Swiss CDF (Compact Density Fibreboard) in all our unique frameless doors.

CDF refers to the compactly compressed fibreboard (> 1,000 kg/m3) that gives the product such enormous stability. Thanks to its multi-ply construction, SWISSCDF is predestined for complex and filigree milled structures. SWISSCDF complies with the fire classification according to EN 13501-1 and therefore is also suitable for use in “flame-retardant” areas.

Swiss CDF is the future of modern door construction and is now available as an option on all Insensation doors.

Insensation is pleased to announce the start of our 30th year in business.

Insensation, the frameless and armored door company known for its minimalist XXL doors, was founded by Richard Gelles, who envisioned the brand and leads its growth. In 30 years, we expanded from our original location in Basel, Switzerland to serve clients in 14 countries in Europe and across the USA with 7 unique showrooms for contractors and architects.

For 30 years, we have developed minimalist products and introduced world-class architects to a wide range of frameless technologies which have subtly altered the course of interior design in everything from tiny woodland homes to massive luxury towers.

For 30 years, we have enjoyed every minute working with exceptional architects, contractors, designers and our own group of engineers and product gurus who have pushed the boundaries of wood, metal and mechanics in door design.

Throughout 2026, we will be releasing new products, new locations and announcing major projects that we have been preparing.

ASTON MARTIN: NEW YORK

Sylvan Rock is the first private residential estate designed by Aston Martin.  The project is located in Rhinebeck, New York.  

INSENSATION ADVANCED FRAMELESS DOORS
Insensation delivered a range of 10 foot frameless doors for this sophisticated residence. A combination of our advanced Frameless Swing, Frameless Pocket, Frameless Pivot and Frameless Duo doors were installed.

The residence was sold for $8.25 million.

Where most American entrance doors are only 2″ thick (that is the thickness of Insenation INTERIOR doors), our secure entrance doors with optional biometric locking are 3 to 4″ thick and provide extensive security. As a Swiss company, Insensation specializes in the needs of high net worth individuals.

A recent new client in San Francisco purchased all their interior doors from Insensation, but their architect selected an American entrance door for their house. Now available on all our frameless and innovative interior doors, Finishing Touch is the first pure no-handle function in the world of high-end interior doors which has no moveable, mechanical parts.

Like all our modern magnetic lockcases, Finishing Touch is available in white, black and silver, to match our exclusive 3D-concealed hinges.

Our milled handles come in long slot version along the edge of the door, a rectangular or an oval pull.
